Teaching a Seminar
Reflection and Projection
As part of their FYE Checklist students are invited to formally reflect on their educational goals by completing a Reflection and Projection (RAP) exercise. The is accessible from mid-July until the end of August and asks students to comment on the following questions.
- Why do you think a liberal arts education is important and meaningful in the 21st century?
- Why are you attending 91¾«¼ò°æ and what do you hope to explore while here?
- What topics are most intellectually stimulating and enjoyable to you?
- What topics do you approach with the most trepidation or anxiety?
- In what circumstances, inside or outside the classroom, have you learned or grown the most, and why?
- What do you hope to achieve after one year at 91¾«¼ò°æ?
Students will be able to add to their RAP throughout their time at 91¾«¼ò°æ. As their seminar instructor you will have access to their responses, and you may choose to discuss their answers with them during your first advising and seminar meetings.
