Opening January 2025: McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center

December 9, 2024

Dear 91¾«¼ò°æ Community,

‌‌I am thrilled and proud to announce that the McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center will officially open its doors on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025, the first day of the spring semester.

‌‌This extraordinary milestone, made possible by a transformative gift from the McCaffery-Wagman-Wachenheim families, embodies 91¾«¼ò°æ’s deep commitment to holistic health and wellness for our entire community. The new facility, located alongside Williamson Sports Center and the eight outdoor tennis courts which opened in fall 2023, will bring together:

  • ‌Health and Counseling Services: Health Services, Counseling Center, and Department of Health Promotion will all be housed here to provide integrated holistic care and resources in modern, top-tier medical facilities.
  • Fitness and Wellness Programming: State-of-the-art fitness equipment and dedicated spaces for yoga, meditation, spin, martial arts, and group fitness will foster a vibrant wellness culture.
  • ‌Athletics and Training: Four NCAA-caliber indoor tennis courts, varsity training spaces, and additional athletic support facilities will support both competitive athletes and recreational users.

The community is invited to provide feedback through a brief survey to help shape future health and wellness classes, resources, and programming offered in the new space. And, as many programs and offices prepare to move amidst the forthcoming winter break, please be aware of the following key dates:

  • ‌Week of Dec. 16: The Department of Health Promotion moves to the new center.
  • Dec. 19-20: Health Services and the Counseling Center will close to prepare for relocation (students, please monitor your email for details).
  • ‌Dec. 21-Jan. 5: Williamson Sports Center will be closed for winter break.
  • Week of Jan. 6: Health Services and the Counseling Center move to the new center.
  • ‌Jan. 6-20: Cardio and fitness facilities in Williamson Sports Center will remain accessible to students, faculty, and staff during open hours.
  • ‌Week of Jan. 13: Anticipated soft opening for student appointments with Health Services and the Counseling Center.
  • Jan. 21: Official opening for all members of the 91¾«¼ò°æ community, including cardio and weight rooms!

This long-awaited project reflects 91¾«¼ò°æ’s commitment to the well-being of our campus community, a dynamic residential experience for our students, and sustainability. It will be the second LEED-certified building on campus — alongside the Billie Tisch Center for Integrated Sciences — and stands as a testament to our dedication to environmental responsibility. We will celebrate this remarkable achievement and exceptional addition to our campus with a grand opening event alongside members of our extended 91¾«¼ò°æ community in May 2025.

‌‌I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the many individuals who have worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life. Together, we have built more than a grand new building — we’ve created and invested in a concept of health and well-being that will benefit generations of 91¾«¼ò°æ students, faculty, and staff.

‌With sincere thanks,

‌Marc C. Conner
